Hockey Tournament will Raise Funds for Underserved Children in Central New York


SYRACUSE, NY – Engineering and project delivery firms O’Brien & Gere and ARCADIS are pleased to announce the 10th Annual Benefit Hockey Tournament to benefit Imagine Syracuse. The event will take place at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena in Syracuse, NY on Saturday, March 26, 2011 from 12:30 – 5:00pm, prior to the Syracuse Crunch game. Now in its tenth year, C&S Companies and Employees of National Grid have joined the fundraising event to support underserved children in Central New York. The event is free and all proceeds will go to Imagine Syracuse.

The tournament aims to raise $20,000 or more to enable the non-profit agency to sustain free after-school arts and enrichment programs for disadvantaged school-age children. The event will open with family skating followed by two games, including consolation and championship games, announced by News Channel 9 anchor Christie Casciano and played by members of the four participating companies. The event will also include contests, raffles, and an online silent auction with a variety of items from an autographed Jim Boeheim basketball to an overnight stay at Mirbeau Inn & Spa in Skaneateles, NY and airline tickets to Florida.



This event, which began as a friendly hockey rivalry between O’Brien & Gere and ARCADIS in 2001, has become an annual tournament that has raised over $70,000 for local causes and communities in Central New York. Past recipients have included Ronald McDonald Charities of Central New York, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness, the American Red Cross of Central New York, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
