Win a Day with the Stanley Cup!

In my children's hockey book, The Puck Hog, when the kids are questioning whether Eddie could ever change his puck hogging ways by watching the Syracuse Crunch play, Jamie jokes, " Yeah, right.  Maybe I'll get to hold the Stanley Cup some day!"
An impossible dream?  Maybe not! There's a contest underway right now giving hockey fans a chance to spend a day with the coveted silver behemeth.  It's a real easy contest to enter. You'll need to give it some thought and submit a cool picture that best demonstrates your passion for hockey. Entries can be submitted to Discover's Facebook fan page.  I've attached the link below and you can enter right now.  Don't put this off.  You have until April 12, 2012.  After April 12, three final entries will be chosen and posted to Facebook where the public will have five days to vote for their favorite entry.  The contestant with the most votes by 11:59p.m. ET on April 21, 2012 will be deemed the official Day with the Cup Winner and will be awarded the ultimate hockey package, which includes celebrating with family and friends, having the experience documented and featured during game one of the Stanley Cup Final ( round trip airline fare, hotel and tickets all picked up)

Wait, that's not all!  We've got a bonus for Syracuse Hockey Mom fans.   In our blog's comment section below, come up with a creative answer to:
I deserve to win a day with the Stanley Cup because_______________.    Two readers who participate will be selected to win a $25.00 Discover gift card.  I will contact winners via e-mail, and send the prize to your home. Can't wait to see your posts!

   Have fun and be creative!  We entered Sophia's poem;

I'm the only girl on my team
And when the boys get mean
I pull out my stick
And skate real quick
On the ice, I'm never a bore
I love to score!
Hogging the puck is not my style
"Discovering" that took awhile
It's all about teamwork and having fun
So to win a Day with the Stanley Cup, sure would mean a ton!

  1. I deserve to win a day with the Stanley Cup because my hockey team, the Midstate Gladiators Squirts, started the season with only 8 players and no goalie. After overcoming much adversity, we went on the finish the season undefeated and win the Snowbelt League season with a record of 14-0-2. Go Gladiators!!!

  4. Hi Noah,
We are all appreciative of the sacrifices your dad is making. I also appreciate the sacrifices you've had to make too. I've got to go find my tissue box right now. You're very deserving! Don't forget to enter the national contest too!

    2. Hi Noah,

I'm pretty sure we played you guys the day your dad left for overseas. Was that the day that we all put yellow tape on our sticks and there was a big on-ice farewell? I remember being both sad for you, and proud to be an American and have your dad serve to protect our rights! I also remember that you guys played a heck of a game! My family and I thank him for his service, and will keep you and your family in our thoughts!

      Best Wishes,
      Spencer Coon
